Kyle Gluesenkamp flew this human powered quadcopter for 50 seconds on June 20th, an unofficial world record. He is part of a team from the University of Maryland’s Alfred Gessow Rotorcraft Center that is trying to win the Igor I. Sikorsky Human Powered Helicopter Competition. The competition’s prize of $250,000 goes to the first human powered helicopter that achieves “a one minute hovering time and momentary achievement of 3 meters altitude”. Looks like they are getting really close!
