About
Hi! I’m Britt and I started Odd Copter on November 15, 2011 to blog about my attempts to build and fly quadcopters/multicopters and share what I learn. I am a novice pilot who knows very little about radio controlled anything. Hopefully, the blog will be helpful to others just starting out.

Hey Britt…I can’t wait to hear what you have to say about the DJI Naza board. I do not have any kind of background as far as coding…so the idea of a plug and play board like the Naza looks pretty appealing. I’m still waiting for the new openpilot board (not holding my breathe though). I’m now part of the op community and I’d feel much better about buying their proven board than taking a chance on the Naza which I believe is built in china. Openpilot has set the bar pretty high for stability but how about ease of use? Do you think you can do a comparison between openpilot and the Naza? Keep up the good work and thanks again.
Hi Cory…I have had a chance to fly the Naza a few times now, but the wind here has been blowing pretty hard. I would say the setup is very comparable to the CC board. I only fly in attitude mode since I am not much of a pilot. The Naza is a little more locked on level and but not as nimble as the CC. The big difference is the altitude hold. CC doesn’t have that feature and it is really cool, especially for FPV flying where maintaining altitude is important. The Naza works as advertised. Of course, it is a lot more expensive than the CC board. The only issue I have had with it is ESC compatibility. Some brands of ESCs just don’t work with it.
I am really looking forward to the new OpenPilot boards too, especially the Revolution.
Nice clean Layout of blog.
Hi Britt,
I just wanted to say that oddcopter is a great website, very very useful. I am also trying to build my own quadcopter, and I found this website very useful.
Great work
Hey, thanks a lot! How far along are you?
I am just a beginner. I have bought some brushless motors and some props and trying some of arduino code, experimenting with motors.
Do you have skype or gmail or any contact, I’d like to ask some questions if you don’t mind.
Best Regards
I consider myself a beginner too, but Iam learning a lot. Contact me at Britt@oddcopter.com
Cory, I just checked out juz70 on youtube. He is an amazing pilot and those are great vids. Interesting that he is using openpilot coptercontrol and FPV. The control he has through the trees is incredible. That gives me something to aspire to. Thanks!
Cory,
Thanks a lot! I thought It would be fun to blog about it and I’m glad to hear it was useful. I have a few boards now and the openpilot is definitely my favorite. I need to do post comparing them all from my novice perspective. I think the leveling features of these boards make them about the easiest thing to fly. Also, by adding long arms that extend past the propellers it protects them in a hard landing. I went through a few props before I figure that out. I think a quad would be great for your son and experienced pilots can make them do amazing things too. It is nice to be able to configure the board with the features that fit the experience level of the pilot. Thanks for dropping by!
Hey Britt…oddcopter is great and very helpful. The section on Multicopter brains was well organized and exactly what I was looking for. I’d like to buy an openpilot board but I guess for now I’ll have to wait. I’ve been flying rc heli’s for almost eight years now and my five year old son is flying his first 4 channel co-ax. I just learned of quads about a year ago…now I’m hooked. I watched some vids on youtube from an Ausie with a screen name of juz70. His videos are awesome and he posts a good parts list. Anyway…keep up the good work…your blog is appreciated…good luck.
